Fangirl Funtimes?

Wincon is just $90 today. And that weekend is our fall break, which means no classes Thursday/Friday, so it's entirely doable in terms of academics. Also in terms of location, because Chicago is only 4 hours away from Rose and I have my car here. But I am really shy and rather awkward and IDK how I'd feel actually going to one of these things. MAKE DECISIONS FOR ME, GUYS.

I was wondering how much fun I'd have as someone who is over eighteen but can't legally drink yet, since I'm sure a lot of people go out to bars and whatnot. I'd also definitely need a roommate(s) because I really can't justify spending very much while I'm still in college and will be paying off loans until I'm sixty. I think I'm really just looking for stories from your own experiences and assurances that I won't end up just feeling awkward all weekend.

You should totally come! And I don't drink (though I am way old enough to) and have a great time. People almost entirely hang out in the hotel or in restaurants, so I don't think anything except the karaoke outing some people go on would be a problem for you. They try to be careful about identifying if you're under 21 and not serving you alcohol in any kind of official capacity, because no one wants to get in trouble, but I'm certain you could still have a great time even if you're not buying cocktails in the hotel bar!

My real concern isn't having fun without alcohol (I feel that fangirls are our own special brand of crack anyway), but that a lot of places in the Midwest won't let you in at all under 21 even if you're not drinking. I was wondering how many events I'd miss out on if I can't be present, even though I'd be sober. I'm much too poor to afford hotel bar cocktails anyway. :)

I'm more worried about spending too much money, since I keep myself on a really tight budget, but I'm really considering this. It shouldn't be too terrible if there are enough people in a room, right? I'll definitely let you know if I think I'm going! Good luck!

Yeah cos I think it's $99 per night and if there're four girls that wouldn't be bad at all!!!

I haven't really looked into this terribly closely, but we'd probably just stay Friday & Saturday nights, right? (Or at least I would, as I'll have classes on Monday.) So $50 each isn't bad at all!

I'd probably be staying longer, like flying in Thursday night and either leaving Sunday night or Monday morning. :D But no, $50 each is awesome!

I'm registered, but whether or not I will actually be able to go is still up in the air a bit.

And pretty much everything happens in the hotel, you won't be locked out of places for being under 21.
